This post may bore you but I am using it for a diary log...although, it may serve as useful but since I have no experience with bare roots except in the last few weeks, take it with a grain of salt. Found these at the Airport blvd Lowes, tried the Fairfield one first but it didn't have near the selelction. Note to self, get what you want while you are there...St. Patricks, Veterans Honor and Mr. Lincolns were gone...will be updating as day goes on.
Purchase 21 bare roots and 4 dinnerplate dahlias |
This is the area these will go
Gonna soak the bare roots in epsom salt...here is the link.
Some are in peat pots....going to cut slit in those and plant them...I guess?

Lovely assortment! You'll be busy for a while. Montezuma is one that I used to hope for, a Grandiflora.
I see you found Queen Elizabeth. It really will grow to the 10' that your chart shows. Over time, not this year or next.
I have pictures of the Rose Garden in Thomasville, GA. If you'd like to see them I'll put them on my blog. I was so caught up in Ms. Julie's native azaleas in a green cathedral I never posted the rose garden.
Nell, we live in relative proximity. I got all these at Lowes...I believe it is in silver packaging called Beauty Queen. I would go look. I went to two different Lowes. One had hardly anything and one had a huge assortment. There was probably 300 to choose from so pick a metro Lowes and see if they have them. I am going to looking at your blog and see if you posted,
Okay a little lost. I went to your blog..maybe you haven't posted them yet...but what did you mean by Ms. Julies native azaleas in a green cathedral?
I posted the rose garden last night. I'll put the link on your latest post.
Ms. Julie Neel's native azaleas on the Neel plantation south of Thomasville, GA I called a Green Cathedral because of the surrounding Live Oaks.
I posted pics from the trip to Ms. Julie's back in 2010. They've disappeared. I'll make a new post somewhere with those later.
I wish now I had made photos of her house inside. Every room paneled in real wood, a different kind: pecan, persimmon, oak and so on. Her husband was a forester.
