Rose Garden Theory...Bare root roses and imagination

Yes, I have imagination.  I went to art school for three years, so that counts.  I played with this rose garden before on the program and discovered it looks better to group by color.  So on the back porch, you will first see yellow (climbers on the pillar) followed in order from the left the corner back back to the left field.  Purple, yellow, red, white, peach, orange, peach, red, white.  Perennials and ornamentals frame the garden.  If you look behind the pool you will just see pink.  Anyway, this give you the idea of the vision I had for this garden.
For a beginner, I don't think it looks half bad...and you will see this while sitting in the living room, informal dining room and kitchen.
I have nine more roses on the way but with over 60 in this bed, I don't its going to make an impact on the design.  I was using the trial version of the landscaper program...Click Here for the link. Because I wanted a better idea of what the rose garden would look like.  Believe it or not, I think is a conservative estimate of what it will look like.  I did group by colors.  I didn't include the climbers in this photo...two are going up the jap magnolia in the background..one of them is a don juan and the other a climbing golden shower, and two climbing white icebergs on the pen's fence above the Europenas..way in the back....two climbers are on the pillar next to where I am standing...two golden showers and one pinata to be grown against the house wall.  This is the view from the back porch and what people will see while in the living room since the back of the house is almost all windows.

This is the picture I used to do use the program.

These are the photos from one month ago...I believe New Year's day

It will be unbelievably beautiful in a few short months.

Are the purple flowers in your mock-up Mexican Heather?

I have trouble following a plan, lol, there's always this extra plant and that open space....

Wonder if He-who-mows would let me plant all the Oakleaf Hydrangea suckers in the firebreak?

Funny you mention the heather. Those are blue girl roses, below is lorapetlum. I have a lot of purple flowers in the front corner. The mexican heather got hit hard in that spot not under the fountain and next to the house...they are doing awesome. The mexican heather that got hit still looks alive but damaged on top..wonder if I should leave the damage as protection against future frost...next time I will put five gallon buckets over them.

Regarding hydrangeas funny you mention those..I have 25 sitting in a cold frame that will go behind the pool under those shade trees. They will be next to the pink rose bed...I began wondering how purple hydras would look next to pink ..then I thought...why do they have to be purple...I use aluminum sulfate to make them purple...maybe Ill make these pink!

Post script, I just went out there and they heathers were bone dry..I can't seem to find the right balance of water..either I am overdoing it or underdoing it...it's like learning to drive.

You have done a lot of work in just a short period of time! When the roses start blooming this spring, you will have a much clearer vision of your garden in your mind. Although, it may take a year or two for others to see it in theirs. Gardeners seem to always see the future. I can walk by a stick and think it looks beautiful, imagining blooms on a lush plant. My husband, though, will walk by and ask "What's that stick?" ;)

That is too funny and never thought about it.
