Stopping to the "smell the roses"

I am guilty of being so preoccupied by the project of the day that I forget why I do it...  To enjoy the miracle and beauty of nature.....I enjoy my gardens at "designated" times....usually in the evening when my husband and I take our daily garden walks...this morning I wanted to finish putting the sky pencils in the ground before work.  When I stepped outside, the sound was deafening..it sounded like a hurricane.....it was birds, thousands of birds....in my backyard.

I decided to stop and watch.  Nature isn't on my time clock...don't miss an opportunity.  The pictures do not describe the experience...anymore than seeing a picture of Jupiter and seeing Jupiter through a telescope..( my husband and I did this last week).  Yes, it's easy to ignore these things....Internet, TV, and a variety of other communicative devices seem to desensitize me....but sometimes it's nice to watch and enjoy the splendor of "common" things like birds migrating, seeing Jupiter through a telescope, and the smell of a Rose.

I love when big flocks move through like that. Usually it's right before spring - maybe we will have an early one!

Really, so they were heading back...Yes, I suppose they were heading northward. That is the third huge flock I have seen. Last couple of weeks have been busy...gonna look this up...
