I have several Don Juan climbing roses. Some of the "distressed" ones that I bought over the spring did not make it as bare root, but overall I love this rose. Number one, it's huge. It makes a cabbage style rose and lives in the vase fairly well. It does not grow as fast like climbing golden showers but if you live down here, I would recommend the rose.
